HOUSTON, TX - SignatureCare Emergency Center has announced the winners of their 2024 3rd Quarter DAISY® and TULIP Awards.

SignatureCare's Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and board-certified emergency room (ER) physician, Dr. Christopher Langan, congratulated both winners for the awards. He said they embody the values the company aims to provide in every patient interaction.

“Both Katherine and Lacey embody the values and dedication we aim to provide in every patient interaction. Their actions remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue delivering exceptional care. Let’s give Katherine and Lacey the recognition they so greatly deserve,” he said

Dr. Langan thanked them for their hard work.

“Congrats to Katherine and Lacey on the DAISY® and Tulip awards. These awards recognize their remarkable contributions to our patients and their families. Thank you all for your hard work and for making our facility a place of healing, compassion, and excellence,” he added.

DAISY® award winner Katherine Shamard was nominated by a patient’s family member who shared how Katherine’s assurances helped her go through a difficult situation.

"Both Katherine and Lacey embody the values and dedication we aim to provide in every patient interaction. Their actions remind us why we do what we do and inspire us to continue delivering exceptional care."

"When I was overwhelmed with my child and feeling as if I was failing as a mother, Katherine reassured me that everything would be okay. She played and made funny faces with my child, showing him off to everyone as if he was hers, while giving me a minute to breathe," the nominee said.

This is not the first time Katherine has been honored with an award, a testament to the compassion and excellence she consistently demonstrates, even in high-stress situations. It is truly a privilege to have her as part of the SignatureCare team.

Patrick Barnes, received while undergoing treatment for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP) at the University of Washington Medical Center’s Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

Since its founding, The DAISY® Award has honored over 189,000 nurses who provide above-and-beyond compassionate care to patients and families.
