60 infants and children received vaccinations, 200 backpacks loaded with back-to-school items were distributed and everyone enjoyed free pizza and music. Facebook live streaming was provided by local radio station, 104.1 KRBE-FM’s Kevin Quinn.

Hundreds of Houston families came out Tuesday, August 20, 2019 to the 1st SignatureCare Emergency Center Care Fair held at the 24-hour Houston Heights emergency center.

The health fair was organized to help families get ready for the school year. Several families took advantage of the opportunity to catch up on their children’s immunizations, resulting in over 60 infants and children getting immunized.

Over 200 backpacks were distributed to children and teenagers who attended the event, while five young athletes received their physicals during the health fair.

Besides medical professionals from SignatureCare Emergency Center, Texas Children’s Hospital Mobile Clinic Program provided immunizations required by the state of Texas for school enrollment while local Houston nonprofit, Easter Seals Greater Houston, helped families enroll their children into Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), the low-cost Medicaid government insurance program.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the number of Houstonians that turned out for this event, and we are glad to see that the children had fun. We hope to hold this care fair again for the benefit of the community.”

Entrust Urgent Care, the West Houston area urgent care center, also administered sports physicals to teenagers who needed them.

There was free food, music, games for the kids, and refreshments for everyone present while Kevin Quinn with local radio station 104.1, KRBE-FM, added to the fun atmosphere while streaming the event live on Facebook.
