SignatureCare Emergency Center Honors DAISY® Award Winner for Nursing Excellence

Kellie Wilburn, the SignatureCare Emergency Center Atascocita, Humble, TX Facility Director received the award for excellence in patient care and nursing management.

HOUSTON, TX – SignatureCare Emergency center has selected Kellie Wilburn, the Facility Manager for its Atascocita, Humble, TX emergency center as the winner of the 4th quarter DAISY® Award For Extraordinary Nurses.

Wilburn who has years of dedicated nursing service was selected for providing excellent care to patients of the 24-hour Humble area emergency center.

Presenting the DAISY® award to Wilburn, Dr. Christopher Langan, the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of SignatureCare Emergency Center lauded Wilburn for providing exemplary care to patients and doing everything possible to make them comfortable when they visit the emergency center.

“Kellie Wilburn has demonstrated that her passion is nursing management. As an experienced nursing manager, Kellie knows what it takes to make patients comfortable and she goes above and beyond daily to ensure our patients feel appreciated,” Dr. Langan said.

He said that even though all nurses are trained to provide excellent patient care, occasionally, a nurse stands out for going the extra mile.

“Kellie exemplifies that quality daily. Selecting her as the winner of the DAISY award was an easy decision for us to make. She has proven that she is passionate about nursing and patient care so I congratulate you, Kellie, for winning this award,” Dr. Langan added.

While receiving the award, Kellie thanked her colleagues and the management of SignatureCare Emergency Center for the award.

“This is so unexpected. I love helping our patients and working with my colleagues. Thank you so much for this award and it will motivate me to work harder and do everything I possibly can do to ensure our patients continue to receive excellent care from the moment they walk into our emergency center,” she said.

The DAISY® Award For Extraordinary Nurses was created by Mark and Bonnie Barnes, who founded The DAISY Foundation in 1999 with the goal of honoring nurses everywhere after seeing the extraordinary care their son, J. Patrick Barnes, received at the University of Washington Medical Center’s Seattle Cancer Care Alliance while undergoing treatment for Idiopathic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (ITP).

The DAISY® Foundation’s mission is to express gratitude to nurses with recognition programs that celebrate the extraordinary, compassionate, and skillful care they provide patients and families.

Over 5,400 healthcare facilities and schools of nursing in all 50 states in the United States and 33 other countries and territories give out the DAISY® awards to their nurses.

The DAISY® Award has honored nearly 200,000 nurses worldwide since its founding in 1999.
