The $1,000 scholarship for medical students in the U.S., awarded during spring and fall semesters, is aimed at helping college students cover part of their tuition and other expenses during the school year.

The application for SignatureCare Emergency Center’s 2020 spring semester scholarship for medical students, is now open.

Designed to help medical students or prospective medical students in United States pay their college tuition, and further their education, the $1,000 award is given twice a year (spring and fall semesters) to students who meet certain qualifications.

Scholarship Qualification

To qualify, each applicant must be enrolled full time at an accredited college or university, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. College freshmen without GPA scores are qualified to apply as well. Just indicate that in your application.

“The award can be used to cover part of the tuition or room and board, cost of books, or to help with other expenses. Wherever the need is greatest, the award can be used for it.”

Applicants are also required to submit a 700-word essay and a 30-second video addressing the question: Who or what inspired you to enter the medical field?

“We are looking for students who have passion for the medical field. We want to encourage them. That is one of the reasons for this scholarship award,” said Dr. Kanti Bansal, MD, one of the Managing Directors of Houston, TX based SignatureCare Emergency Center.

According to SignatureCare Emergency Center, the fund is paid directly to the college or university on behalf of the student, but there is no limit on what the award can be used for.

“The award can be used to cover part of the tuition or room and board, cost of books, or to help with other expenses. Wherever the need is greatest, the award can be used for it,” Dr. Bansal added.

The application for the 2020 spring semester opened on September 25, 2019 and will close on January 2, 2020. All applications received during this period will be considered.
